Hey All, How do you decide if you log “moderate activity” which includes yoga, or just “yoga?” I’ve been really trying to make it habit to get to a Tuesday night yoga class. Noticing that it seems to calculate moderate activity (again which gives an example of yoga) differently (more) than it does yoga?? Thoughts??
Hi Mimi, I ran into that with Moderate Activity (which included weighs) vs Weight Lifting. So I used the category that gave me the most 😉
The categories do seem a bit inconsistent or try to group very different activities under one label (couple weeks ago a few of us were very unhappy that “shopping” was so unrewarding for those of us wanting credit for all the carrying heavy bags up steps, stretching and bending to put away groceries. Very different amount of effort than someone shopping for clothes and trying things on in a fitting room! Our solution: count steps for the walking involved and “moderate activity” for anything that makes you raises pulse and breathing rate, and makes you sweat! If you are panting, up it to strenuous level. It does help to discuss it and see what the consensus is.
Thanks! This yoga class starts and ends slow, lots of breathing exercises and gentle stretches, but the middle of it has a ton of strength and weight bearing stuff in what she calls the “flow”??? Still pretty new to it, so I don’t know all lingo. But that period really gets my heart rate up. A lot more than my morning stroll on the beach….so I was kinda wanting more “credit” for it. Maybe I’ll play with it and see how it comes up with 20 minutes of stretching and 40 minutes of moderate activity…that might be a more accurate way to describe my experience?
I'm only counting walking running hiking elliptical and stair stepper in this event, but for other events, I have definitely taken an hour-long exercise class, for example, and broken it into intense versus moderate, and it's felt reasonable.

Team@racery.com It would be a great feature to be able to reply to all who commented on a particular post instead of having to manually type in each commentor name.
Thank you for the suggestion! I've added that to our feature requests list. 🙂✨
                    Wonderful. Thanks
Maybe the trigger could be @allcommenters.
Great idea! The web version does a version of this: if you answer a post, it prefills the recipient’s name, plus the names of any others who responded. (If I remember correctly!). On any post if you type @ and the first few letters of the username, it autofills the rest. Big time and mistake saver! It never made sense to me that the web version has more features than the app!

Team@racery.com I joined late. I have documented exercise back to the 1st of Jan. May I post it to racery?
Typically, we only allow backdated logs for up to two weeks in the past in this race. But since you joined late (and have documented exercise), feel free to go ahead and backdate to Jan 1! 😊
I appreciate that very much! @racery.

Hi Everyone. I joined Day 5 Just spent quite a while backdating activity just for 5 days 🤦‍♀️ I hope I'm claiming Steps correctly, are supposed to ALSO include our full daily steps, or minus our daily mileage and activities out of it? The Conquerer Challenge automatically uploads from Garmin my step count, and the number seems to definitely minus the steps during recorded mileage, and uploads it after midnight. I can backdate add that each day once posted. Otherwyse, y'all may not appreciate dumping my steps everyday since I get at least 10.000 minimum. Any advice appreciated, Thanks
                    4
There are some rules posted somewhere- my understanding is you do NOT include daily step count. It is supposed to be additional intentional activity. Maybe the moderator can tell us where to find those rules now. :) Glad you joined!
Ahh thank you. I could see a couple people adding step count that looked like full day activity, I thought maybe we could add that minus our intentional activity, but not a lot of people do it so I won't add anymore. It is odd that step count is an option and it automatically works out the conversion, I wonder if that is more for being at a theme park or festival (or if you weren't able to track GPS while walking)? 🤔
My thinking is that the step count is meant for use when you need a distance for intentional exercise but don’t have a watch that shows you the mileage? I agree it sometimes looks like people are posting daily steps but it’s not meant to be used for that according to the guidelines. Sometimes people add a comment telling what the steps came from so that’s a good idea too.
That's right! The yearlong challenges on Racery is geared towards intentional exercise. The about section has some general guidelines for the challenge! https://yearlong.racery.com...

How fun to see familiar faces and new ones!
Agreed. We are sure to enjoy another fun year sharing adventures, vacations and special stories.
You know who I miss? The three Danish sisters (Viking was in one name). I wonder how well Racery notifies nonactive folks about the start of a new race. Maybe they aren’t interested in rejoining — two of the three went quiet about midyear, so only the gal living in Denmark finished. @GreenThumbs Did you ever get in touch with them over your shared heritage? It would be nice if Racery had a secure way to share email addresses with mutual consent. I should just stay out of it, but I love our sister teams, especially when they are oceans or continents away from each other! Just thinking out loud (you know how I do go on!…) I come from a family of Olympic worriers — too bad there’s no mileage credit for that sport!
Agreed. We certainly bonded over Danish venues and stories. Sadly I didn’t have any contact info for the Viking sisters outside the 2023 race and that is no longer accessible. The sisters left the race after their mother died mid-year.
I still have access to the 2023 race so I posted something on Viking's last post from May 2023 asking if she was going to join us on the Pacific Crest Trail.
How do you still have access to it?
I often miss people who post a lot and then disappear for a while. 🥺 I never heard from Racery about this race we are in now ... Luckily people here told me. I think that's a great idea to go back to the 2023 race to post some reminders @Duck-Rabbit.
                    It worked @MidwifeTCoffee
Is there anyone else you are missing whom you want me to try to contact? @MidwifeTCoffee
@Duck-Rabbit I saw this too late...I love the chat feature but forgot about it. Thanks for you efforts!

Individual avatars will appear on the route, but there will also be extra competition in a leaderboard of teams of five. Captains, you'll race for free when your team fills! All kinds of exercise welcome, converted into route miles by Racery! Street Views will be sparser but more beautiful this year!

Exercise anywhere you want. Then log the activity and see your avatar move across the route. Catch a Google Street View of the new virtual locale, then cheer your real fellow racers! Share your bib on social media! Brag about your streaks or longest mileage!

We've got racers all over the globe! So to keep everyone on the same page, we've come up with some handy guidelines:

                      1. Watch this video of Racery pro tips.

                      2. Complete your bio. Include #groups to better track friends or colleagues.

                      3. Update your passcode in settings.

                      4. If your race includes activity conversions, we try to keep the playing field level, and conversions are based on effort, ie 1 hour cycling = ~1 hour swimming = ~1 hour tennis. Please log cycling minutes, not miles.

                      5. To delete a log, click its gear on the right.

                      6. Don’t like one type of email? Unsubscribe at the bottom of that email.

                      7. If you post on social media, please include #raceryapp so we can find you!

                      8. We rely on the honor system. You don't have to use a device to prove your miles, a good map or watch suffices.

                      9. Only log intentional exercise please.

                      10. Attribute your exercise to the appropriate day—don't combine workouts from multiple days.

                      11. Only backdate logs for a race up to two weeks in the past.

                      12. Activities submitted after the race ends will not count toward race leaderboards.
